‘Now it’s not like that’ – Gabby Agbonlahor’s latest Celtic comments are grim for Rangers

The gap between Celtic and Rangers has probably never been as large as it is right now.

With Celtic on course for another potential treble, Rangers are looking for another new manager after ending yet another season trophyless.

On and off the park, Celtic are miles ahead of Rangers and whilst the Parkhead club celebrate more success on the pitch, off it the Hoops are financially stronger than the Ibrox club.

As Rangers wait for the San Francisco 49ers takeover, Gabby Agbonlahor has said that the Ibrox club must make a managerial appointment that will help close a gap to Celtic that is now ‘too far’.

Gabby Agbonlahor believes title races are no longer decided by Celtic/Rangers games

Normally, title races come down to the Glasgow Derby results and whoever comes out on top most in these big games.

However, Agbonlahor has noticed that this season, the derby results no longer have the same impact on who wins the league after Celtic have blown away the rest of the competition outside of the Rangers fixtures.

Agbonlahor told talkSPORT, “They need to make a statement [managerial appointment]. The gap between Rangers and Celtic now in the league is too far.

“Me growing up watching and checking the results for Celtic and Rangers on Teletext. Back in the day, it was always Celtic win every week, Rangers win every week, and the titles were decided by the Old F-rm games.

“Now it’s not like that.”

Celtic have lost two, drawn one and won one against Rangers but yet still remain 17 points ahead of Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table as the Parkhead club continue to dominate domestically.

Celtic’s 120-game dominance over Rangers

Since 1997 Celtic have faced Rangers 120 times.

Over that period the Parkhead club have been completely dominant over all competitions.

With Celtic now officially Scotland’s most successful club, it could be a long time before Rangers get anywhere close to the Parkhead club if this takeover by the 49ers does not happen.
