Officials and VAR confirmed as Celtic travel to Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership

Celtic are on the road for the first time this season in the Scottish Premiership as they travel to face Hibernian on Sunday.

In a 12.30 pm kick-off, the Bhoys return to the scene of one of their most dramatic victories last term. Despite an unconvincing performance, Adam Idah’s double from the penalty spot proved crucial in the race for the title.

Whether the Irishman will be back at Celtic before the end of the window remains to be seen. However, Brendan Rodgers will be motivated to claim maximum points against David Gray’s outfit, who lost 3-0 to St Mirren last weekend.

Intriguingly, the clash is part of a double-bill between both sides set to take place over the next couple of weeks. Celtic drew Hibernian in the Premier Sports Cup second round, which takes place on Sunday, 18th August at 3 pm.

With anticipation building ahead of the away trip, the officials and VAR operatives have now been named for the showdown at Easter Road.

Officials confirmed for Hibernian vs Celtic

Taking centre stage, Nick Walsh has been appointed as the man with the whistle for Celtic’s journey to Hibernian. The 33-year-old will be supported by Graeme Stewart and Steven Traynor, who will run either line [Scottish FA].

The fourth official hasn’t yet been named. We will provide confirmation as soon as it arrives. VAR is always a subject that creates plenty of conversation in Scottish football. This weekend, Alan Muir is in pole position as the lead operative. Alan Mulvanny is on-site should any incidents require further scrutiny.

Supporters of both sides will hope the result is the main talking point at Easter Road rather than refereeing decisions. Celtic have started the campaign nicely, and following their convincing opening day victory with another three points against Hibernian would help to generate further valuable momentum.
