Sportscene presenter Jonathan Sutherland has named one Celtic star in his team of the week.

The Scottish Premiership season drew to a close at the weekend as Celtic drew 1-1 with St Mirren.

Celtic made plenty of jibes towards Rangers after Brendan Rodgers continued his reign as one of the most successful managers in the club’s history, winning yet another trophy.

It was by no means a vintage performance from the Bhoys, with Arne Engels among those to disappoint, but one star did enough to earn a spot in the team of the week.

James Forrest named in Sportscene team of the week

It’s no surprise to know that it was James Forrest who was named in Sutherland’s team of the week on BBC Sport.

Forrest scored for the 16th season running in the very last minute against St Mirren in a perfect fairytale moment.

An incredible unique angle of Forrest’s goal displayed the pandemonium around Celtic Park after the club’s most decorated player of all time capped off an excellent afternoon.

Brendan Rodgers should start James Forrest in the Scottish Cup final

The weekend was a day for celebration but there’s still one more trophy to go in order to secure a famous Treble-winning season.

At the start of the season, it would’ve been unthinkable to suggest that Forrest should start ahead of Nicolas Kuhn, but the 33-year-old has been the much better player in recent weeks.

Kuhn has been a shadow of himself and looked devoid of confidence, even leading to Chris Sutton wanting the German dropped for the Scottish Cup final on Saturday.

Whether Rodgers decides to do that is another question, but Forrest could feel hard done by if he doesn’t get picked.
