Pat Bonner has shared how the Celtic fans were getting ‘frustrated’ with Liam Scales during the goalless draw at home to St Johnstone on Saturday.
With key injuries at the back for Brendan Rodgers, including to star man Cameron Carter-Vickers, it has forced Celtic to hand starts to players that would normally be on the bench.
That includes Liam Scales, who after a fruitful loan spell at Aberdeen last time out, has returned and been thrown straight into the deep end, but not as he would have liked.
Bhoys legend Bonner seemingly sympathised with the 25-year-old yesterday because, whilst he felt that the Parkhead faithful were getting on his back, he thinks that there wasn’t proper movement ahead of him for something to happen, as he told BBC Sport.
Given the talk of Celtic’s lack of transfer movement leading up to this game, this was the last thing Rodgers needed.
The only positive is that the champions are still sitting on top of the tree, but the performances haven’t been deserving of it, with Bonner sharing his thoughts.

“They always come up with the late show,” said Bonner. “They always come up with a goal, but today it just doesn’t seem that way that they have got.
“The crowd are frustrated. I am not going to put any pressure on young Liam Scales. He has come in, from nowhere, and the fans are getting frustrated with him because I don’t think there is proper movement ahead of him, for him to get the ball away quickly enough.”

Pressure on Rodgers already
There were audible boos at the full-time whistle yesterday, as the fans made their feelings clear towards the team and perhaps even the board.
After watching Celtic win the Treble last season, and that in some style, then the expectations are as high as they have ever been.
But out of the League Cup, frustration in the transfer market and now dropped points, this next week, and then leading up to the Old Firm, is huge for the club, including for Rodgers.
