Paul McGinn shares what ‘everyone’ is strangely saying about Celtic’s late Motherwell win

With the international break well underway, it appears that there is still some chat going on about Celtic’s late win over Motherwell.

Celtic fought back from 2-1 down with just 20 minutes left to play when Benjamin Nygren and Daizen Maeda struck to grab the vital three points at Parkhead.

Whilst Motherwell can, and should, be commended for their Celtic Park performance, the Bhoys did well to pick up a confidence-boosting last-minute winner.

However, reflecting back on the game, Fir Park’s Paul McGinn shares what he’s hearing people say about the Celtic result and it seems rather strange.

Paul McGinn says ‘everyone knows’ a Celtic draw would have been ‘fair’

Firstly, as we previously mentioned, Motherwell deserve massive credit for the way they took the game to Celtic.

But McGinn appears to have a different view on the result after hearing what others are saying.

McGinn told the Wishaw Press, “It says loads that we’re disappointed to be coming away from Celtic Park with nothing.

“I’m sure they would rather be in a better place than what they are, but we definitely made it tough for them.

“A wee break, and a wee bit of luck might have gone our way, but we’ll keep going and it will turn our way.

“It’s massive. You hear people talk and everyone knows it’s not enjoyable to play against us now – not that it ever was, but it’s in a different way now.

“Hopefully we can start punishing teams more heavily. Everyone knows a draw was probably fair, but that’s Celtic – they keep going and if you make mistakes they’ll pounce on it.

“I’m proud of the way we play. I think if you come here and just kick it long they’d just have munched us and beat us by a couple, so I like what we’re doing, and I wouldn’t change it.”

Celtic were more than worthy winners as the team showed true grit and mental strength with an almost full Parkhead breathing down their necks.

Celtic’s next important fixture

After the international break, Celtic’s next fixture is going to be crucial.

A tricky away trip to Dundee faces the Bhoys at Dens Park where Steven Pressley’s side are currently fighting for survival.

Second-bottom of the Scottish Premiership table, Celtic will need to be at their best if they want to leave Tayside with another three vital points.
