Celtic’s late win against Motherwell was a superb comeback from Brendan Rodgers’ Bhoys.

With just 20 minutes to play and Motherwell 2-1 up at Celtic Park, it looked like Rodgers was heading for his first defeat of the season.

However, Celtic trio Benjamin Nygren, James Forrest and Arne Engels turned the game and two goals in the closing stages wrapped up the three points as the Hoops beat Motherwell 3-2.

Jens Berthel Askou’s Celtic comments after the game were classy, respectful and fair as the Motherwell boss delivered a very fair verdict on the result.

And now, the Fir Park gaffer is still talking about Celtic as Askou shares what Rodgers’ team did on Sunday is something he’s not seen from the Bhoys this season.

Jens Berthel Askou blown away by ‘hi-tempo’ Celtic vs Motherwell

Askou was speaking about Motherwell’s narrow defeat at Parkhead when he talked up Celtic’s performance once again.

Askou told the Wishaw Press, “I think we gave it our best shot. Celtic, especially in the last 20 minutes, played some of the best, most high-tempo football I’ve seen them play for a while.

“I’m happy they had to do that to beat us, that it wasn’t too easy for them. There are many things to learn when you play against the best.

“I think this team will grow. As a group, we were able to make it a really competitive game, maybe one of the best games in the league so far this season, in terms of entertainment, high intensity, and quality and bravery.

“Not many teams have scored twice here, maybe with a little bit of sharpness we could have got another goal.

“I think that’s something to take away with us that we are able to come to the big stadiums and be very competitive.”

The Celtic stats vs Motherwell that back up Askou’s Hoops praise

The first half at Celtic Park against Motherwell was so bad, fans booed the team off the park, but when the pressure was on, Rodgers’ side upped the tempo.

And the attacking match stats from the BBC website confirm that:

If Celtic can start games now as they finished against Motherwell, then fans can be more confident that success will almost certainly follow at the end of the season.
