This week hasn’t been the best of weeks for Celtic after the fallout of their 7-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
The defeat in Germany still stings for the Celtic support and no doubt Brendan Rodgers and the team as their game plan to take on the Bundesliga giants was taken apart by Nuri Sahin’s side.
However, that hasn’t stopped Peter Schmeichel from waxing lyrical about Celtic and their style of play as he tells Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane about how much he enjoys watching the current Scottish champions play.
Peter Schmeichel blown away by Celtic despite losing to Borussia Dortmund
Speaking about how different teams across Europe have different styles of football, Schmeichel says he enjoys how Brendan Rodgers’ side ‘suck teams in’ to break them down.
Schmeichel told Stick to Football, “So obviously I’m watching Celtic a lot at the moment.
“What they do is they try to sort of suck the teams in, and then they have this one pass through the middle, and they’ve got four players up front with incredible pace. That is so effective. It’s only three or four passes.
“It’s never, you know, working your way through the team. It’s only three or four passes, and if it’s not on, the ball’s kicked up.”
Celtic’s superb style of play devastates Scottish football
To be honest, the Celtic fans have been witnessing this style of play ever since they watched their team dismantle DC United, Manchester City and Chelsea on the US Summer Tour.

That form was carried into the Scottish Premiership and Celtic have been devastating as they remain unbeaten on the domestic scene.
A 6-0 win against St Johnstone was preceded by a 5-2 victory over Falkirk in the League Cup and, remarkably, Celtic are yet to concede a single goal in the league whilst hitting the back of the net on no less than 20 occasions.
Brendan Rodgers will be hoping that clean sheet record will continue and that Celtic can record a comfortable win against Ross County on Sunday to help banish the Champions League ghosts of Dortmund.
