Ange Postecoglou is proving himself to be a talented Celtic manager. More than that though, he’s imprinting his ideals and philosophies onto the Celtic support as a fine human being.
Supporters are now regularly hanging on the words of the Hoops boss. From post-match interviews to press conferences, it is truly worth tuning into the latest thoughts of Postecoglou.
And it seems former players of the club are no different. Ramon Vega, who played on loan at the Bhoys under Martin O’Neill, still regularly follows Celtic. He was left delighted by what he heard from Postecoglou this week, specifically regarding the fans.
Postecoglou offered a brilliant quote to BBC Radio Scotland after the match, telling reporter Kenny Mcintyre that many Celtic fans would have arrived at Paradise with problems, but that having the opportunity to put a smile on their faces is what is special about his job.
Vega loved the sentiment, stating on Twitter this week: “This is exactly what is missing within the football industry. The humanity/humbleness but also that closeness to the fans and respect to them.
“Football has a huge impact on most of our lives either direct or indirect but when it’s direct to your club it is very emotional.”
Postecoglou truly is one-of-a-kind in the modern game. Although he’s a forward-thinking, progressive manager who is open to new ideas, I’ve actually come to think he is very much an ‘old-school’ figure.
He’s been a unifying force at the club, he has his hands on every aspect of the football department and his management style is stand-offish but all-seeing.
It’s exactly what we needed at the club in a dark time and long may his reign continue.
