The whole Celtic guard of honour debate is starting to get a bit tedious in the build-up to the Rangers game.
Celtic face Rangers at Ibrox for the first time since winning the league at Tannadice last season and now the conversation has steered towards this.
The Celtic guard of honour debate has been rumbling on for days now when, in truth, not one Parkhead supporter really expects Rangers to swallow their pride and deliver it at Ibrox.
However, as the conversations continue around the subject, Rangers have been told why it’s important they honour Celtic this weekend and it won’t go down well over at Ibrox.

Danny Murphy tells Rangers a Celtic guard of honour is ‘good for the optics’
Danny Murphy was debating the guard of honour when he said that whilst he understood why there won’t be one given to Celtic, the former Liverpool hero states why it’s important it should be done.
Murphy told talkSPORT, “I think the most positive thing is the optics are good for the younger generation. I think that’s important for young players to see that.
“That’s probably the biggest benefit, obviously, it is tradition. So, we like traditional traditions in our country.
“I think, the players don’t particularly enjoy giving it, although you could argue, and some of them should be motivated by it. You know, the ones who are giving the guard of honour, because you’re kind of going, ‘I want to be there’.
“And the players who’ve won it are so ecstatic and happy and proud that they’ve won it, I don’t suppose they care less whether they get one or not.
“Because if I’ve just won the Premier League with Liverpool, it wouldn’t bother me whether I got one or not, because I’m so ecstatic that the club and others have been successful.
“Other people recognising it is irrelevant to me, so I’m a bit non-plussed about it, really.”
The guard of honour debate between Celtic & Rangers needs to end
Any sensible fan will tell you that any chat of a guard of honour between both Celtic and Rangers needs to be binned.
For all the best intentions people have for arguing the merits of the gesture, it just won’t go down well in Glasgow one bit.
It’s hard enough getting a Glasgow Derby to pass without incident or controversy, The guard of honour would just add that extra bit of tension where it is not needed so the talk of it should be put to bed once and for all.
