Stand up for the champions!
Celtic make the short trip to Ibrox on Sunday after confirming their Champions status for another season in Scotland.
After the Rangers away fans were allowed back in for the previous Glasgow derby, this is the first chance for the Celtic Park faithful to return and make themselves known in opposition territory.
You can bet your bottom dollar that the Celtic fans will make it known they are champions, after securing four-in-a-row, their 14th in the last 15 seasons, as well as title number 55.
Scotland wasn’t the only nation to crown its champions over the weekend because Liverpool also confirmed their English Premier League title by thrashing Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur.
On Sunday, Arne Slot’s side take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and you expect the London club to give the champions of England a guard of honour.
So, will Rangers do the same with Celtic?! Kris Boyd shared his thoughts.

Kris Boyd reacts to whether Rangers will give Celtic a guard of honour
Guard of honours don’t exist in Scotland, and Boyd thinks you can dream again if it’s going to happen on Sunday at Ibrox.
The former striker stated that there used to be ‘respect in the boardrooms’ of Celtic and Rangers, but all of that has now gone out of the window.
As a result, Boyd feels there will be ‘no chance’ of a guard of honour from Rangers, as he told Sky Sports News (30/04/25 at 10:35 am).
“There won’t be any guard of honour,” responded Boyd. “Scotland’s a pretty unique place. I think, for both teams, the respect went out of the window a few years ago. Celtic can’t even refer to it as the Old Firm.
“In terms of the respect that used to be in the boardrooms, I don’t think it’s there anymore. I can’t imagine Rangers players clapping Celtic players onto the pitch on Sunday.
“There should still be respect there from both clubs. There is so many problems in the past that there is absolutely no chance of a guard of honour on Sunday.”
Clubs ‘don’t mean’ guard of honour amid Celtic and Rangers debate
There will be some who claim that you should show respect, regardless of what the other side does or doesn’t show, and provide a guard of honour.
Then, there are others who feel it’s a load of nonsense, and rivalries, especially one as fearsome and hot-headed as Celtic and Rangers, is just that for a reason.
Either way, Hugh Keevins isn’t a fan of it all, as he explained on Clyde1 Superscoreboard.
“It gives Rangers the perfect opportunity to provide Celtic with a guard of honour,” stated a sarcastic Keevins.
“It’s my favourite predictable question. It won’t happen, and it shouldn’t happen anyway. When clubs do the guard of honour thing, they don’t mean it because they are told to do it.”
