With all the news surrounding the impending appointment of Brendan Rodgers as the Celtic manager, it is quite easy to forget that there are other issues surrounding the club.
Like our players on international duty. Luckily, 67 Hail Hail is always at hand to keep the Celtic fans abreast of any news surrounding our players. But this update from the Canadian Premier League website could be one of concern for the Celtic supporters.
Alistair Johnston has been representing Canada on international duty over the last ten days and last night, he faced the USA in the CONCACAF Nations League Final.

Unfortunately for Johnston, Canada lost the match 2-0 as goals from Chris Richards and Folarin Balugon sealed the win and the trophy for the Americans in Las Vegas.
But what is concerning is that the report from CPL said, “This was not a strong individual performance for most of Canada’s players.
“[Alistair] Johnston looked like perhaps his injury — from which he only recently returned — is still bothering him, and several others looked out of sorts.”
Johnston returned from an ankle injury this month to appear in the Scottish Cup Final win over Inverness Caley Thistle. The Celtic full-back played the full 90 minutes and looked to be comfortable throughout.
And at the time, it looked like the popular defender had made a full recovery. But now it seems that the injury could still be lingering about just over two weeks after being given a clean bill of health.

Thankfully for Celtic, we still have the summer to manage the injury in time for the season to resume on the weekend of the 5th/6th of August. [SPFL]
However, Canada will open their CONCACAF Gold Cup group stage campaign at BMO Field on June 27th of which Johnston is likely to be selected.
Let’s hope that the Celtic fullback gets through that match unscathed and returns to Glasgow injury free.
