Read MoreReport claims second Japanese team and venue named to face Celtic in summer tour
With the league wrapped up and Celtic looking forward to a Scottish Cup Final in June, the players will be looking forward to a short summer break before the Asia Tour kicks off in July.
The club have already officially announced that we will play Yokohama F Marinos in the first game in Japan on the 19th July. We will also face Wolves when we take the team on the Korean leg of the tour on the 26th July.
As yet, there has been no official confirmation by the club of any other fixtures being organised for the rest of the tour. But Japanese media outlet, Sponichi has said that J League side Gamba Osaka will play Ange Postecoglou’s team.
Whilst speaking about the possibility of PSG and Cristiano Ronaldo’s side Al-Nassr taking part in a tour the report said, “It was also learned that G Osaka will play Celtic (Scotland) at the Panasonic Stadium Suita on 22nd.” [Translated by Deep L]
As previously said, there has been no official word from Celtic regarding this so until that has been announced, we will have to treat this claim as a rumour.
But for now, all our focus will be on seeing out the last two league fixtures of the season. Tonight sees Ange Postecoglou looking to improve on recent performances with a win against Hibernian.
On Saturday, we will be officially crowned champions after facing Aberdeen at Celtic Park. From there, we have the Scottish Cup Final to look forward to.
The summer tour will be the furthest from Ange Postecoglou’s mind whilst these fixtures remain to be completed. But it will be an announcement we can look forward to at the conclusion of the season.
