Celtic are mulling over Kjetil Knutsen and his suitability to become Ange Postecoglou’s replacement at the club, after the Australian confirmed his move to Tottenham Hotspur.

STV report that Knutsen is “under consideration” by the Celtic board, as more and more names are linked with the vacant post.

The 54-year-old has been in charge of Bodo/Glimt since 2018 and has won two league titles with the provincial club, as well as impressed in Europe.

One of their most famous European victories came against Celtic during the 2021/22 season. A thoroughly ruthless performance knocked Postecoglou’s Bhoys out of the UEFA Conference League, despite their resources being considerably smaller.

Knutsen is just the latest name to join the Celtic job rumour mill. Other outlets have reported that Manchester City are expecting an official approach to discuss the future of Enzo Maresca, while Graham Potter has also been linked today. Brendan Rodgers is also said to be a possibility, though he has reservations about a return.

It’s clear that Celtic have a decent pool to work through. A number of candidates with strong profiles are free agents or poised for a big move from a smaller club.

If the Bhoys do have a strong interest in Knutsen, any route to his appointment may not be easy. Ajax have been heavily linked with the Norwegian and are even said to have held talks with his representatives already. [De Telegraaf]

Still, the fact he is wanted by other teams is surely a good sign that Celtic are pursuing the right calibre of manager.. A very intriguing few days are ahead of us.

In other news, Michael Nicholson and Peter Lawwell react as Ange Postecoglou officially leaves Celtic.
