Reported Celtic right-back target Sacha Boey is set to join Galatasaray, according to reports in France.

Le Parisien reporter Benjamin Quarez believes Boey is expected to be in Turkey this weekend to finalise a move away from Rennes.

It’s said he has already said his goodbye to his teammates, but that the final details of the transfer are still pending.

Celtic have been linked with a number of right-sided defenders this summer including Boey, Brandon Soppy and George Baldock.

So far, nothing has been delivered. However, as Ange Postecoglou stated today, plans are ongoing and the club are working hard at bringing in a preferred option.

Boey spent last season gaining experience out on loan at relegated Ligue 1 side Dijon. At 20, he’s far from the finished product but did look like a fairly exciting option for Celtic.

A week ago, it was reported that Celtic had made an enquiry to Rennes for his services. Clearly though the situation has changed dramatically.

It’ll be interesting to see whether his move to Galatasaray shakes things up at Celtic’s end. It could well be that the Bhoys have chosen to pursue another target, freeing up Boey to consider a move elsewhere.

That is how I’ll prefer to think of it, rather than the Bhoys missing out on a top target! Galatasaray aren’t exactly in great shape at the moment having just been hammered by PSV in Champions League qualifying.

The quicker Celtic can bring in the man they want the better. The league campaign kicks off a week tomorrow after all.

In other news, Ange Postecoglou confirms contingencies are being made for Edouard Celtic exit.
