Celtic will reportedly have to wait ‘a couple of weeks’ for a decision to be made if they decide to move for Manchester City defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

Reports recently suggested that Ange Postecoglou’s side was monitoring the 20-year old defender, who spent last season out on loan at Stoke City.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, there is interest from the Hoops in the England u21 internationalist. However, they will have to wait several weeks for a decision on the defender’s future if they make a move.

So far, from the reports we have heard, Celtic’s interest hasn’t been anything more substantial than ‘monitoring’ Harwood-Bellis’ current situation at the English Premier League champions.

However, this latest update could suggest there is certainly something more in this transfer link, with the view to making a potential move further down the line.

Of course, Celtic aren’t the only team keeping a close eye on Harwood-Bellis as Burnley eye up a move, as former City defender Vincent Kompany gets set to become boss at the recently relegated side.

Kompany has previously worked with the young English defender, having taken him on loan to his first role as manager in Belgium with Anderlecht.

Postecoglou seems keen to add another defensive option to his ranks, on top of the club’s pursuit of on-loan Tottenham man Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The Bhoys held the best goals conceded record in the Scottish Premiership last campaign. However, there is still room for improvement at the back when it comes to options and its depth.

Could Harwood-Bellis be an option Celtic turn to?

Although Celtic’s interest is still to become apparent, Harwood-Bellis certainly seems like an option that would fit the bill for Ange Postecoglou.

The defender is used to playing a similar system that demands the back four to play out from the back. So, he would be used to those sorts of pressures.

With Celtic’s links to Manchester City, it also feels like a deal that would make a lot of sense. Even more so after the appointment of Mark Lawwell.

If these reports are to be believed, Celtic will have to wait IF they are to pursue the former Blackburn Rovers loanee. But he may be worth the wait if the club come to that decision.
