Ryan Christie has revealed he played a part in convincing Julian Araujo to join Celtic, but admitted he has ignored one piece of advice.
Araujo has turned into a fan favourite at Celtic Park after some brilliant performances, including winding up Rangers fans.
The right-back has been virtually ever-present, and while he has looked more than assured in the role, Christie has said that he still hasn’t grasped how intense it is to play in Glasgow.

Ryan Christie says Julian Araujo is surprised by Celtic intensity
While appearing on the Scottish Football Social Club podcast, former Celtic midfielder Christie revealed how Araujo ignored his warning of how crazy it is to represent the Hoops, but confessed he is loving life in Glasgow.
He said: “I tried to warn him before he went up. I said, ‘The fans are a different level up there. Get ready for that’.
“And the first thing he said when I saw him this week was, ‘Why didn’t you warn me?’.
“But I did and he’s absolutely loved it. He’s loved Glasgow too.
“He’s a good laugh. He’s a good fit. He’s got a big enough personality to go and deal with playing in the Old Firm games.”

The 31-year-old is expected to be named in Scotland’s squad for the 2026 World Cup, where he will get to play alongside former teammates Kieran Tierney and Anthony Ralston.
Christie is looking forward to it and believes it will be a case of performing at their top level to guarantee a spot in Steve Clarke’s squad.

“Everyone with clubs who are going down to the wire in major tournaments is cool,” Christie added.
“It’s brilliant. I’m sure that the gaffer’s message will be the same even after this camp.
“If you do well for your club between now and the end of the season, then it will only benefit us going into the summer.”
