Scott Brown is a bonafide Celtic legend but he’s rapidly developing a similar reputation at Ayr United.
The former Hoops midfielder and captain is in the midst of a fine run with the Honest Men as they sit second in the Championship behind Falkirk.
It is set to be a scrap for the rest of the season in Scotland’s second tier but Brown also has grand plans in the Scottish Cup after penning an Ayr extension.
Broony’s Ayr destroyed Broxburn yesterday afternoon to reach the fifth round of the competition where facing Celtic is a genuine possibility after the Hoops saw off Kilmarnock in a narrow victory.
For Brown, though, it was a completely different story as his side travelled to Albyn Park and even on the road hit their opponents for EIGHT on what was an incredible day for the boss.
It was the Somerset Park outfit’s biggest ever win on their travels and sees Brown check off another milestone on his management journey.

Scott Brown was helped to a record by Celtic loanee Lenny Agbaire
Another interesting point to note was the Celtic loanee who played for Ayr on the day.
Not only did youth player Lenny Agbaire start and play the 90 minutes, but he opened the scoring for his loan club after just 16 minutes.
A set-piece delivery from Patrick Reading was deep towards the back post but there was Agbaire to power home a terrific header back across the goalkeeper and into the top corner of the net.
Former St Johnstone manager target Brown was chuffed with his side’s performance as well as the mauling result and he told his players how delighted he was.
Even if the perfectionist admitted they could have scored even more.
He also noted the younger players – including Agbaire – who earned their stripes.
What Scott Brown said about Ayr’s Scottish Cup mauling
“We looked well organised behind the ball and it was a very professional performance,” he said.
“We were a bit rash in the final third during the first half but our fitness levels and quality on the ball told after that.
“You could see the lads having that belief as soon as they scored the third goal – then everyone wanted one and we showed a ruthless side.”
He added: “The good thing about the club is we’ll always give youth an opportunity and if you’re good enough they’ll get the chance to come on and deliver on the park.”
Agbaire joining is one thing but Scott Brown jokingly attempted to bring in James Forrest.
Jamesy is going nowhere!
