Scott Brown states what Celtic fans ‘didn’t want to see’ when Ange Postecoglou left, but it’s happened

Celtic’s trophy success has continued following Ange Postecoglou’s departure in 2023.

Postecoglou was a very popular figure in Glasgow, as he helped Celtic back on their feet, including winning the Treble in his final season before joining Tottenham.

The Greek-born Australian was a brilliant find by the powers that be at Celtic Park, after they snapped him up from Japan and J League side, Yokohama F. Marinos.

From how Postecoglou handled the media to his vibrant and all-action style of play, the next man through the door had big shoes to fill.

Perhaps to many people’s surprise, Celtic brought back Brendan Rodgers, after he made the unpopular call to leave the club for Leicester City in 2019.

And now Scott Brown has had an interesting take on the whole matter.

Brown was the Celtic skipper when Rodgers first decided to leave, but he wasn’t at the club during Postecoglou’s reign, or after that.

But the former midfielder told BBC One Scotland that ‘a lot of Celtic fans’ didn’t want to see Rodgers come back when Postecoglou had left.

Yet, fast forward to the present, and it has all flipped on its head.

“His attention to detail is exceptional,” said Brown. “You don’t see a lot of what happens in training.

“But it’s individual based, and where you are at times. The runs in behind is a big thing for Brendan. The wingers staying high and out wide also.

“Ange came in, and did fantastic, but yet again, he (Rodgers) has come back up and flicked the switch, which probably a lot of Celtic fans didn’t want to see at the time, but then he showed his dominance, and also his character as well. To come in, and go, you know what, ‘I will win them back over’.

“Press-wise as well. He is one key as well. He doesn’t get too excited, and he always talks the football club up. He always talks about the players as well, but he also wants winners.”

That’s back-to-back doubles for Rodgers, and once again, he is eating up the trophies in Scotland like a pack of sweets.

Yes, Celtic just about missed out on a Treble, but the club have been so dominant that missing out on such feats is now seen as a disappointment.
