Celtic and Brendan Rodgers’ attention will now turn to next season, after a weekend to forget.

Aberdeen won the Scottish Cup on penalties at Hampden, after the game finished 1-1 during the 120 minutes, and denied Celtic the Treble.

Celtic can have no complaints, as they just didn’t show up and sombrely ended the campaign after winning the double.

The Celtic Park faithful will now be eager to see what the club do in the summer transfer market because the powers that be are expected to be busy.

Neil Lennon has been in this situation before, and he knows exactly what Rodgers will be going through, as he shared what is going to happen.

What will Celtic do in the summer transfer market after losing to Aberdeen?

Back in January, Celtic sold Kyogo Furuhashi to Rennes, in what was a surprise exit and move from the Japan international.

Lennon thinks that, the first thing on Rodgers’ mind will be to bring in another forward, before going ‘right through the team’, as he told Premier Sports.

The Celtic legend feels all of this is a ‘frightening prospect’ for everyone else in Scotland, because the champions could come back ‘stronger’.

Lennon stated: “The League Cup. The Champions League, they got an unbelievable performance against Bayern Munich away.

“We have seen the emergence of some new players, and I think he will freshen things up. They lost Kyogo in January, and obviously they didn’t spend on a striker.

“I think that will be at the foremost of Brendan’s mind. I think right through the team. The centre of the team. He will look to improve that area, and they might come back stronger next year, which is a frightening prospect for everybody else.”

How many goals did Celtic score after losing Kyogo Furuhashi?

Daizen Maeda went to the next level after Kyogo left, as he ended up deploying a more central role on a regular basis.

Adam Idah had a mixed time of it, including being hauled off after the hour mark during Celtic’s Scottish Cup final loss.

But one thing you can’t argue is that the goals continued to roll in, despite that central figure in Kyogo going.
