Sead Haksabanovic’s Celtic career came to an end yesterday as the Montenegro international sealed a move to Swedish champions, Malmo.

The former Celtic winger posted on social media yesterday thanking the Celtic fans but sounded shocked that his time in Paradise had come to an end.

And now at Malmo, during his first interview with his new club, Haksabanovic spoke about what he has learned from his time at Celtic and sounded slightly regretful for how it all ended.

What Haksabanovic has ‘learned’ at Celtic

After 42 appearances for Celtic, the 25-year-old still managed to pick up a treble under Ange Postecoglou before his activity on social media brought the wrath of Brendan Rodgers as he was soon sent out on loan to Stoke City.

Now at Malmo, the former Celtic winger shares what he’s learned during his time abroad and at Celtic.

Haksabanovic said [Malmo FC], “After the years abroad, I have learned a lot off the field. How to be a good ambassador and a good leader.

“Even though I am quite young, I still feel that I have a great responsibility because I have been around the world and learned quite a lot.

“When it comes to playing on the pitch, I’ve come to realise that nothing comes for free. No matter how good a soccer player you are, if you don’t work or push the team, you won’t get anywhere.

“It’s about taking help from teammates and teammates who are there to make me better.”

It’s just a pity Haksabanovic didn’t realise that sooner instead of taking the huff. He could have been a very good player for Celtic.

His form blew hot and cold and because he was playing second fiddle to Jota, Daizen Maeda and Liel Abada, starting spots were rare for the Montenegrin.

If he had worked hard at Celtic instead of moaning on social media, the irony is that the poor form of our current wingers last season meant that Haksabanovic would have been almost guaranteed more first-team opportunities.

However, he is gone now and I hope he manages to kick-start his career for club and for country.
