Celtic will face Bayern Munich in the Champions League playoff knockout phase.

Celtic drew Bayern as a reward for their 21st place in the Champions League after the Hoops beat Young Boys in the last game of the group phase.

The Bundesliga giants have hopes of winning the competition and will see facing Celtic as probably the best draw that they could get.

However, with the first leg of the tie at Celtic Park, there is always a chance that Brendan Rodgers’ team could give themselves a good chance against the German club, especially with the Parkhead crowd behind them.

And that is something that Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry can’t wait to experience after what his teammate, Joshua Kimmich told him about the Celtic fans.

Bayern Munich star ‘excited’ to sample ‘the best atmosphere’ at Celtic Park

Gnabry told Bayern’s official website, “They’ll be two difficult games, but we’re excited. It’s a new opponent for me.

“You always like new experiences as a player. Jo [Kimmich] told me it was one of the best atmospheres he’s ever experienced, so I’m really excited about it.

“Celtic have a good team. We’d hoped to finish in the top eight. Now we’re in the playoffs, have to accept that and are excited about the games.”

The night at Celtic Park that left Bayern Munich hero Joshua Kimmich speechless

Celtic have faced Bayern Munich four times previously in the Champions League with the Bhoys drawing one and losing the other three.

Joshua Kimmich has played at Celtic Park just once before and this is the atmosphere that he is referring to:

That noise is quite incredible. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to get anything from the game as Celtic lost 2-1 but if the fans can bring that level of energy next week, who knows what can happen.
