Simon Jordan critical of Brendan Rodgers as he notices what he’s like in Celtic press conferences

Compared to Brendan Rodgers’ first stint as Celtic manager, the next round isn’t going as well as he would have liked and he faces a much tougher test than before.

When the former Premier League boss left Leicester City towards the back end of last season, many didn’t expect him to turn up on Celtic’s doorstep months later.

The return of Brendan Rodgers was probably more surprising than Ange Postecoglou leaving, but either way, the fans have got behind him.

But Simon Jordan has been critical of the 51-year-old and how he has been an ‘imitation of himself’ at Celtic, as he told talkSPORT.

The former Crystal Palace owner added that the Bhoys have a ‘battle’ on their hands when it comes to trying to win the Scottish Premiership title.

However, he is still backing Celtic to come out on top again when the final ball is kicked in May.

The narrow win over Hibernian on Wednesday night certainly helped matters, with a three-point lead retained once again.

Brendan Rodgers at Celtic

“I don’t think Brendan Rodgers is at it,” said Jordan. “I think Brendan Rodgers is an imitation of himself. He is quite low-key in his press conferences. His side aren’t great and Rangers could win this league.

“I think the balance of probability is still on the side of Celtic, but they are in a battle now. You have a title race.”

A long way to go…

There has been a lot of talk away from the pitch about a lack of transfers, but all of that needs to be put to the side for now because there is a title to win.

Yes, the team’s performances haven’t met the expectation of the fans and they were right to boo the recent win over Ross County.

But the key thing that needs to be looked at here is that Celtic are yet to hit top gear, and when they do, then they will sail away into the distance.

Plus, every single week, someone is going off injured or facing a setback of some kind. The quicker Rodgers can get his strongest XI out, the more likely fans will start to see a change in performances and results.
