Celtic hero Kyogo Furuhashi was at the centre of a bizarre Atlanta United ‘transfer’ announcement last week.
The Japan international’s transfer from Celtic to Atlanta United after the MLS announced the move on its official website last week.
Kyogo was linked to Atlanta United last month as reports suggested they were set to make a £10m bid for the Celtic Park talisman.
However, nothing has materialised as yet of those rumours but Brendan Rodgers was forced to comment on the Celtic striker’s predicament before the Ross County game as he quashed the transfer ‘gossip’.
But it seems that Atlanta may well have turned their attention elsewhere after Sky Sports’ latest announcement on the MLS club.

Atlanta United’s £18m Middlesbrough bid amid controversy over Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi
It seems that after being linked to Kyogo, Atlanta may well have focused its attention elsewhere after they submitted a bit of £18m for Middlesbrough’s Ivorian international striker, Emmanuel Latte Lath.
If the bid is accepted then that would effectively end Atlanta’s interest in the Celtic striker and that would be great news for the Hoops fans.
Kyogo Furhashi’s season-by-season scoring record at Celtic
Kyogo has been a star at Celtic and almost instantly became a fan favourite with the Parkhead support.
Goals against Rangers and in the Champions League have helped Celtic dominate Scottish football and make progress in Europe.
But how does the Japanese striker’s goal-scoring record stack up since he made his big Celtic move back in 2021?
| Kyogo’s Celtic record | Played | Goals | Assists |
| Season 2021/22 | 33 | 20 | 5 |
| Season 2022/23 | 50 | 34 | 5 |
| Season 2023/24 | 50 | 19 | 5 |
| Season 2024/25 | 29 | 12 | 3 |
Despite the obvious drop-off in goals since the arrival of Brendan Rodgers, Kyogo remains a very important player for Celtic as the Parkhead club chase another treble this season.
