Sky Sports have delivered an update on Darren O’Dea’s future at Celtic.
Recently promoted to the position of Pathway Manager at Celtic, O’Dea was charged with helping to promote Celtic Academy players to the Hoops first-team.
However, recently O’Dea has been linked with a move to Swansea City as the English Championship side eye the Celtic man as a prospective assistant manager to Alan Sheehan.
Whilst it had all gone quiet over the past seven days, Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph has delivered an update on O’Dea’s situation as his Celtic future hangs in the balance.

Darren O’Dea agrees ‘three-year deal’ as Celtic exit to Swansea City looks imminent
O’Dea has been at Celtic since 2019 when he left Motherwell to take up the U18s managerial job.
Now the Player Pathway manager, Anthony Joseph has shared that the next step in O’Dea’s career is about to take place.
Taking to X, Joseph said, “Celtic pathways manager Darren O’Dea is set to finalise his move to Swansea City this week.
“Sky Sports News understands the 38-year-old has agreed a three-year deal to become the Championship club’s new assistant manager this summer.”
The timing of the update is not ideal as Celtic prepare to face Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final.
Who could replace Darren O’Dea at Celtic?
Celtic could replace O’Dea from within the club if they so wish.
Stevie Hammell is the current Head of Academy and could step into the Player Pathway role.
Glen O’Driscoll returned to Celtic in 2023 as Performance Manager and could be a ready-made replacement.
Or what about Chris McCart. Involved at Celtic since 2008, he is the club’s Head of Youth Development and could easily step into the role.
