Lamine Yamal is one of the most recognisable footballers on the planet.
The 19-year-old is competing in the 2026 World Cup final for Spain against Argentina in New York, United States.
But for Celtic fans who don’t know, there is an indirect and unlikely connection between Yamal and the champions of Scotland.
Yamal’s dad is Mounir Nasraoui. He has been a vocal and public backer of his teenage sensation son, including having the Instagram handle ‘Hustle_hard_304.’
And it’s on social media where Yamal’s dad has constantly showcased his backing for Celtic.

No Celtic players remain… 😬
Lamine Yamal’s dad backing Celtic on social media
For Celtic to have worldwide backing isn’t a surprise, because they are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and they are Scotland’s most successful and biggest club.
But on many occasions, since Yamal’s rise, his dad has posted images on social media of him donning the famous green and white colours.
It will never happen because Yamal will probably spend all of his footballing days at Barcelona, but it would be something if he could play for Celtic one day.
Either way, it’s great to see that one of the best footballers in the world has a family who are on the right side, in terms of repping the Hoops.
Hopefully, Celtic can return to the Champions League ahead of the new campaign and possibly book a meeting with Barcelona.
There is a history there between Celtic and Barcelona, and hopefully, more stories like that Tony Watt goal can be written next term.
