I think it’s fair to say that recruitment at Celtic is the one area that has been on the receiving end of some very intense criticism of late.
In fact, it’s been the biggest bug-bear for the Celtic fans for a number of years now. Apart from Ange Postecoglou’s first season, Celtic’s signing policy has worked sporadically.
When it does, it pays off with dividends. Unearthing gems like Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley is offset by splashing a healthy chunk of change on others like Alexandro Bernabei.
And it was the Argentine that came under Stephen McGinn’s spotlight after the 23-year-old failed to convince that he is good enough to play for Celtic after he was used as cover for the injured Greg Taylor.
Will Alexandro Bernabei play for Celtic again?
Stephen McGinn has certainly questioned that. The Falkirk captain and radio pundit remains unconvinced and thinks his time in Paradise may well be up.
McGinn said [The Go Radio Football Show], “Isn’t that a not game [Kilmarnock] where you can find a place for Nawrocki in the team if Greg Taylor has to come off?
“Can you put Liam Scales to left back because he’s more likely to defend your back post than Bernabie who, I don’t know, should he ever wear a Celtic strip again?”

On the evidence of what we have seen over the last two and a half seasons at Celtic, it is extremely unlikely that Bernabei will be used again this season.
Having fallen foul of Rodgers after missing a team meeting for the season opener against Aberdeen at Pittodrie, Bernabei has had an uphill battle to convince the Celtic manager he deserves to be in his team.
Failing to impress against Ross County, Aberdeen and culpable for Kilmarnock’s equaliser last weekend, Bernabei will have convinced Rodgers to at least look to strengthen that area of the team in the coming summer window.
