Some current and former Celtic players have been reacting after Carl Starfelt posted on Instagram.
Last night, we told you how Starfelt was focusing on the footballing reasons for his departure from Celtic for Celta Vigo.
Much has been made of the personal factors at play in the move, given that his partner Jacynta Galabadaarachchi recently left Glasgow for Sporting Lisbon Feminino.
Vigo and Lisbon are not too far apart so the move may make sense for plenty of reasons.
But playing in La Liga is clearly something that matters to the Sweden international as he gave up on another chance to feature in the Champions League group stage.
Starfelt is beginning life after Celtic, and took to Instagram on Friday to say: “Excited for a new chapter with @rccelta. Hala Celta.” (Carl Starfelt on Instagram)
At the time of writing there hasn’t been a huge amount of reaction from current Celtic players.
The likes of Odin Thiago Holm, Mikey Johnston, Sead Haksabanovic and Anthony Ralston have all liked the post while Stephen Welsh commented.
The Scotland youth international kept it brief, saying: “All the best mateee.”
The “mateee” patter has become a bit of an in-joke during Starfelt’s time in Scotland. Former Celt Josip Juranovic also went down that route, saying: “Mateee! Congrats!! You deserve it! Smash it!”

Moritz Jenz, one of those who vied with Starfelt for game-time last season, said: “Congratulations.”
Starfelt’s new club also posted to say: “Welcome home!”
The Galician side open their La Liga campaign on Sunday afternoon at home to Osasuna. It will be interesting to see how Starfelt gets on in one of the most competitive leagues in the world.
In other news, Celtic’s work on the redevelopment of the Barrowfield training complex will continue throughout 2023
