Johnny Kenny’s valuation continues to grow outside of Celtic.

Bolton Wanderers’ chances of securing automatic promotion to the English Championship are over, but they are heading into the dreaded play-offs.

All of that was confirmed on Saturday when Celtic loanee Kenny scored again for Bolton during their thrilling 3-3 draw against play-off rivals Huddersfield Town – two games remain of the regular season.

That resulted in Kenny’s current manager, Steven Schumacher, waxing lyrical about the striker and how his effort and performances in training are paying off.

“Johnny Kenny with another great finish,” said Schumacher. “When we do finishing sessions, I am really impressed with when he hits it right, and how hard it goes.”

Celtic loanee Johnny Kenny impresses in Celtic training after another Bolton goal

It needs to be remembered that before January, Bolton were long-term admirers of Kenny, and it seems as though they are getting exactly what they wished.

Celtic have struggled to score goals all season, but Kenny isn’t just finding the back of the net regularly in League One, but also impressing in training.

Schumacher noted on Wanderers TV about how Kenny strikes the ball in such a ‘clean’ way, and the power he is able to generate from it.

“Johnny Kenny with another great finish,” said Schumacher. “Johnny strikes the ball so clean when he hits it, and he can hit it that hard off both feet.

“When we do finishing sessions, I am really impressed with when he hits it right, and how hard it goes.

“It’s a good bit of play from us, actually. Nice little build-up – when it came to Johnny, a centre forward, there is only one thing on his mind: to try and hit the target. He does. It goes through the goalkeeper. It gives us a lifeline.”

Kenny’s stats for Bolton

There will be Celtic fans out there who will be rubbing their hands with glee and see this as a great chance to sell the player in the summer.

What also needs to be taken into account is if Bolton return to England’s second-tier. That extra dough would allow them to pay for Kenny, and so far, he is showing why they should put the money on the table.
