Steven Thompson is the latest pundit to come out in support of Celtic fans following a vote of no confidence in the board.

The Celtic Supporters’ Association issued a vote of no confidence in the board after fans blasted the statement put out by the club.

Plenty of others are also siding with the Hoops fans and it will be interesting to see how the atmosphere changes in the coming weeks at Celtic Park.

Following the revelation, BBC Sportsound dissected the news, where Thompson asked the ultimate question: What do the Celtic board want?

Steven Thompson reacts to Celtic statement

Thompson was joined by Michael Stewart and James McFadden in the Sportsound room where the unanimous feeling was that the club’s hierarchy had failed to deliver in the window, which could prevent them from competing in Europe.

“They’re trying to defend the indefensible here. If you’re doing the right things behind the scenes, you get it done and you get it done early,” he said.

“What do they want as a club? They’ve won 13 out of the last 14 leagues and probably the squad that they’ve got is good enough to win the league again. What is it that people are looking for? They’re looking for progression and looking to go further in Europe.

“I know people have talked about a glass ceiling in Europe but winning the league for the amount of times that they have done, isn’t just enough for the Celtic fans. They want more and, clearly, the board haven’t met those expectations.”

More Celtic supporters’ groups have no confidence in the board

Following the bombshell statement from the Celtic Supporters’ Association, more groups have also echoed a similar view.

A statement from the Green Brigade, which was signed by Bhoys Celtic, North Curve Celtic and The Celtic Trust, as well as the Irish Celtic Supporters’ Association was also published late on Sunday night.

At the time of writing, Celtic are yet to respond to the votes of no confidence.
