Ange Postecoglou signed a number of excellent players over his time at Celtic.
Reo Hatate, Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda were all brilliant additions to the Celtic first-team squad at the start of Postecoglou’s tenure.
And that’s before we even discuss the likes of Celtic heroes Matt O’Riley, Joe Hart, Alistair Johnston and Aaron Mooy.
However one Celtic signing who wasn’t successful admits Rangers tried to sign him after he was asked to speak about his incredible link to English giants Manchester United.

Former Celtic goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist’s Rangers admission
Benjamin Siegrist was brought to Celtic to offer competition for Hoops hero Joe Hart.
When asked about the links to Man United [Birmingham Mail], Siegrist admitted Rangers wanted to sign him as well.
Siegrist told The Bondi Podcast, “Yeah, so the Rangers one was just because [Alan] McGregor was sort of coming towards the end of his tenure and that was before he signed his extension.
“And then people thought it would just make more sense because Celtic had just signed Joe Hart. Unbelievable goalkeeper, unbelievable guy.
“You know, you’re not going to go in there and push him aside. For a lot of people towards the outside it looked like Rangers was the obvious choice.”
Benjamin Siegrist’s ill-fated Celtic career
Despite being impressive for Dundee United, Siegrist just couldn’t manage to make it at Celtic.
Admittedly, competing with Joe Hart, who was in incredible form, made Siegrist’s quest for first-team football even more difficult.
And after three years at Parkhead, the Swiss goalkeeper managed just two first-team appearances at Celtic.
Now on loan at Genoa, Siegrist will be hoping to kick-start his career in the Serie A.
