talkSPORT are reporting that Brendan Rodgers could leave Celtic next summer and return to the Premier League.

Rodgers enjoyed a hugely successful first spell at Parkhead between 2016 and 2019 before making a controversial move to Leicester City.

He returned to Celtic in 2023 to make amends with the fans and he’s gone on to win two domestic Doubles in two campaigns.

The Northern Irishman penned a three-year contract that expires next summer, which means the current season could be his last as Celtic manager.

67 Hail Hail understands talks are ongoing between Rodgers and the Hoops hierarchy in the background, but they are not close to agreeing fresh terms.

talkSPORT say Rodgers could leave Celtic for Premier League

Now, talkSPORT have weighed in on Rodgers’ future at Celtic by reporting that he could leave next summer and open the door to a Premier League return.

The radio station’s chief football correspondent Alex Crook delivered the update on Thursday and tipped the likes of Crystal Palace, Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest as next destinations for Rodgers.

Crook said: “Brendan Rodgers is out of contract at the end of the season.

“And as I’ve been making enquiries about what might happen at Ibrox, I have just been hearing a lot of whispers that maybe Brendan Rodgers could decide at the end of the season not to renew his deal, and that the time is right to leave Celtic for a second time.

“If he does, I think he’d be on a lot of lists in the Premier League.

“We could be talking, come the summer, of a bit of a managerial merry-go-round because Oliver Glasner at Palace is coming to the end of his contract, Marco Silva at Fulham [is too].

“And Andoni Iraola, very sought after by some top clubs, is in the same situation at Bournemouth. You would think all of those trio would be interested in a manager with the CV of Brendan Rodgers.

“And don’t rule out Nottingham Forest either – because Evangelos Marinakis has been a long-term admirer of Brendan Rodgers and obviously Ange Postecoglou is still on a very sticky wicket there.”

Latest on Ange Postecoglou at Nottingham Forest

Celtic hero Postecoglou is under serious pressure at Forest having failed to win any of his first seven games in charge.

It’s a similar run to the start of the 2021/22 campaign at the Hoops when Postecoglou struggled to hit the ground running in Glasgow.

However, he wasn’t on the verge of being sacked, which seems to be the case at Forest.

The Athletic are reporting that ticket sales uptake has been slower recently with Ange in charge, but the players in the dressing room are not revolting against the Aussie-Greek.

Forest host Chelsea this weekend in the Premier League and Postecoglou needs a result.
