Celtic came so close to defeating Bayern Munich, even Vincent Kompany was in a sweat.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was obviously gutted as he praised his Bhoys’ ‘heroic’ effort against Bayern Munich despite the heartache of his last-minute exit.

But as the fallout over the Hoops Champions League exit continues, there was a comedic moment spotted by match commentator, Sam Matterface, involving Vincent Kompany on the sidelines that Celtic fans will find hilarious.

Vincent Kompany spotted panicking on the Bayern touchline vs Celtic

Matterface said on talkSPORT’s live commentary of the game, “They have been pegged back by Celtic and we just had a brilliant comedy moment where Vincent Kompany has gone onto the pitch, which he shouldn’t do, to retrieve a loose ball so that the game could continue and the pace of the game could continue it the way he wanted it.

“As he’s run onto the pitch and his trainers, he slipped on his backside, and the ball’s gone even further into the middle of the pitch.”

Responding to the scenes, co-commentator Troy Deeney admits he enjoyed the Bayern boss’ slipup after Kompany put him on his backside plenty of times during his career.

Deeney replied, “Wow. It’s been a frustrating night that sums his night up in a nutshell.

“It is nice to see Vincent Kompany on his backside, as opposed to him putting me on the backside every time we played against each other.

“So I enjoyed that one.”

According to UEFA’s IFAB Law 1, managers must remain in their technical areas at all times during a match.

However, as Kompany didn’t enter the field in a confrontational manner, it seems that the match referee didn’t deem this a cautionary offence.

A lighthearted moment in a night that was filled with heartache, the Celtic supporters can now look ahead to a domestic season that still promises many more headlines.

Having already nabbed the League Cup, Brendan Rodgers has the opportunity to win another treble and that continues this weekend with Celtic’s next fixture against Hibs at Easter Road.

If the Hoops boss can win that, it will take him one step closer to retaining the Scottish Premiership crown and a record-breaking ninth domestic treble.
