Rangers made the worst possible start to their Europa League campaign.
A home tie against Genk was an opportunity to earn at least a point, perhaps even three. But in the end, former Celtic striker Oh Hyeon-gyu’s goal delivered a 1-0 win for the Belgians.
It contrasts with Celtic’s first Europa League encounter of the season on Wednesday as the Hoops put on a decent display to earn a point away to Red Star Belgrade.
After Rangers’ defeat, talkSPORT presenter Jason Cundy spoke live to hammer home some truth bombs about Rangers and their arch-rivals Celtic.

Jason Cundy hits nail on the head about Rangers and Celtic
Cundy said he cannot see it possible for Rangers to catch up to four-time defending Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.
Since 2011, Rangers have won just one top-flight title, and Cundy feels the gap between them and Celtic is even bigger than when the Ibrox side got liquidated.
The talkSPORT man then predicted that Rangers may not win another Premiership crown within the next decade, music to Celtic’s ears.
He said: “I mean, is there a world right now that we can see any time soon that Rangers can get anywhere near close to Celtic because of how far they’ve fallen and how far they’ve dropped off?
“They’ve fallen behind. For Rangers now to catch up to Celtic, who are streets ahead… streets!
“Celtic over the last 15 to 20 years, as far as I can remember, they have been the dominant force. Since Steven Gerrard, they’ve (Rangers) won one title, right? And that was it.
“Other than that, it’s been Celtic. Brendan Rodgers left Celtic, came to England, won the FA Cup, has gone back up there and still doing it!
“Celtic have been too good for too long, and I don’t know how that gap can be made up as quickly as Rangers fans would like. Maybe I’m wrong, but right here, right now, that gap is as big as…
“Even when they got relegated, it feels bigger now because Rangers were always going to get promoted.
“They were always going to go through the leagues, always going to get themselves back into the top division. But now, they are streets behind.
“I think Rangers fans, they might not win the title for the next 10 years. Honestly, that’s what it looks like right now. There could be another 10 years for the win.”
Celtic’s dominance over Rangers is unbelievable
Imagine telling the likes of Martin O’Neill, Alex McLeish, Gordon Strachan and Walter Smith in the 2000s that Rangers would win just a couple of titles in a 14 year period?
It seemed unthinkable back then given the intense rivalry and competition between the two Glasgow giants, when titles were traded back and forth.
Celtic are in such a dominant position having won every single Premiership crown since 2012 bar one year during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rangers have fared well in Europe, however, and that’s been their only silver lining over the last few years. But now, even that light is flickering out after losing to Genk.
That came after their horrific aggregate loss to Club Brugge in the Champions League play-off, yet manager Russell Martin remains at the helm.
