Celtic have had many top names play for the club that have gone to play for some of the world’s biggest clubs.
Henrik Larsson left Celtic Park to move to Barcelona after a success career in Paradise stretching seven glorious years.
Vigil van Dijk also left Celtic for Liverpool where the Dutch defender has won the Premier League and the Champions League.
And, of course, Kieran Tierney went to Arsenal as the Celtic defender looked to test himself in England’s top flight.
However, none of these players were actively chased by one of the world’s biggest clubs not once, but twice as Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn reveals today how Barcelona tried to sign him on two separate ocassions in his youth career.
Barcelona wanted Celtic’s Nicolas Kuhn before RB Leipzig and Ajax moves
Kuhn spent his early years trying to make his mark at Hannover, RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich and Ezgerbige Aue before getting a permanent move to Rapid Vienna.
But it could have all so different for the Celtic winger had Barcelona gotten their way.
Kuhn told SportBild [print edition page 4], “Yes, that’s true. Even before I moved to RB Leipzig’s boarding school at the age of 14, there was contact between Barça and my agent.
“And even before my time at Ajax Amsterdam (from 2018), they wanted to sign me. But I saw a better chance of making the breakthrough at Ajax.”
Nicolas Kuhn’s fledgling international career as Celtic winger sets high Germany hopes
Nicolas Kuhn had clear potential from an early age after being capped for Germany at U15 level.

Kuhn earned two caps before he started to kick on at U16 where he scored two goals in five appearances.
At U17 level, the Celtic winger was capped 12 times scoring seven goals until moving up the ranks to U18 (two caps and three goals), U19 (seven caps and one goal) until he eventually plateued at U20 level where Kuhn made four appearances finding the back of the net twice.
The 24-year-old has made no secret of the fact that he wants to make it at senior level for Germany and with Julian Nagelsmann keeping a close eye on the Celtic ace, coupled with his form, that ambition my well be realised soon for Kuhn.
