Tomáš Čvančara only spent six months in Celtic colours, but it was memorable for the striker.
Joining under Martin O’Neill and with Celtic heading towards a trophyless campaign, Čvančara played his part in the club winning a domestic double.
Let’s be honest, even though you can’t fault Čvančara’s efforts, he didn’t do enough to earn himself a permanent contract with Celtic; that’s why he has now returned to Borussia Mönchengladbach ahead of the new season.
But it seems as though the Celtic loanee won’t last long, because after his struggles in Glasgow, it has been reported that his supporters in Gladbach have ‘no hope’ for him.
🤦♂️ Still no sign of an agreement for either of these two Celtic favourites to stay…

Tomáš Čvančara is facing the axe after returning to his parent club from Celtic
It has been reported by Bild that Čvančara is ‘set to be sold’ by Gladbach this summer.
The German outlet mentioned his spell at Celtic, including how the ‘troubled’ striker only scored a ‘meager two goals’ for the champions of Scotland.
The issue facing the Bundesliga side is the fact that Čvančara got injured towards the back end of Celtic’s season, tearing his adductor muscle, and it doesn’t seem as though he will be able to complete a full pre-season this summer.
As a result, it makes life even more difficult for Gladbach to sell their striker.
What’s even worse is that Bild surveyed Gladbach supporters, asking them how they feel about their returning striker, with ‘68%’ claiming that they no longer have hope for him.

This shouldn’t surprise Celtic fans…
Yes, Čvančara scored that penalty against Rangers at Ibrox. That moment and those scenes will live forever with the Celtic Park faithful.
But for the most part, he couldn’t cement his place in the XI and prove his worth in a team that was crying out for a goalscorer.
In the end, it was the old head of Daizen Maeda firing Celtic to glory, and Čvančara leaving with two goals to his name, one of which was a penalty.
