Daizen Maeda is on fire at Celtic right now.

Ever since Kyogo Furuhashi left Celtic for Rennes, Maeda has stepped into the lone striker role like a natural.

The Japanese winger has scored in every competition Celtic have entered this season and has even wowed Bayern Munich’s players after his Champions League performances for the Bhoys.

But it’s domestically where Maeda has peaked, and the Celtic first-team striker equalled a record that has stood at the club since 2014 after his double in the Hoops win over Hearts at the weekend.

The 11-year-old scoring record Daizen Maeda equalled in Celtic’s win vs Hearts

Maeda’s double against Hearts meant that the Japanese winger-turned-striker netted his 30th goal for Celtic this season.

However, it’s not the 30-goal milestone that’s the most impressive part of his scoring streak this season.

Social media account Scotland’s Coefficient has shared how Maeda’s 29th goal meant that after scoring in each of his last eight league starts at Celtic, the Japan international equalled a record held by Anthony Stokes back in 2014.

Stokes hit 21 goals in 47 appearances in a season where Celtic won the league title.
