Once upon a time, Scottish football used to be competitive at the top because Celtic and Rangers used to exchange blows.
Now, everybody watches on as Celtic lift title after title, including last season, which was the club’s record-equalling 55th and 14th in the last 15 seasons.
In response to that, added investment has come in at Rangers in the form of the San Francisco 49ers, and they have opted to appoint Russell Martin as their new manager.
Brendan Rodgers has seen off many Rangers managers over his two spells as Celtic manager, as he will be bidding for a fifth title in five seasons in the famous green and white colours.
So, just how long do these Rangers pundits think it will take, if they ever do, to overthrow Celtic from the top again?

Ally McCoist responds to David Murray’s claim about Rangers trying to catch Celtic
Rangers have won one Premiership title since that famous ending for David Murray in 2011, and he thinks it will take up to ‘five years’ for his former side to triumph again.
But Ally McCoist disagreed with his former chairman by stating that he is expecting Rangers to be competing with Celtic ‘well before’ Murray’s ‘3-5 year’ suggestion, as he told talkSPORT.
Alan Brazil stated: “With the greatest of respect, £20 million isn’t a lot of money.”
McCoist responded: “No, it’s not. But it goes a lot further in Scotland than it does in England. That goes without saying.
“I think the ex-chairman, David, is spot on. You can see the way they have run Leeds, and the way they have come in at Leeds. They have taken their team, and they haven’t gone crazy, and obviously had great success last season. I think the Rangers fans would sell for that.
On Murray saying it will take 3-5 years: “Myself included, by the way (would sigh at that). I was hoping that what Sir David meant there was getting back on the European stage.
“I would certainly hope that you were competing with Celtic domestically well before 3-5 years. I would. 100%.”
McCoist calls for Celtic realism
As per, there is always more noise outside of the champions of Scotland than there is inside it, and the same will happen again next year, and the next.
Whether it’s Rodgers in the dugout, Neil Lennon, or Ange Postecoglou. It’s the same result, again and again.
Celtic have won more Trebles than Rangers have titles since Murray left, as McCoist is finding some realism to it all.
“You have to be realistic and say ‘Celtic are still the team to beat,’ added McCoist. ‘There is no doubt about that domestically.
“What did they win the title by last season? 17 points. Very, very comfortable.
‘I take the ex-chairman’s point, but I think the Rangers fans would be looking for far more immediate success, and by that I mean, by beating Celtic and winning a cup. Or whatever it may be than 3-5 years.”
