History was made in the Bundesliga on Sunday evening, and former Celtic duo Oliver Burke and Josip Juranović were at the heart of it.
Hours after Celtic downed Rangers in the Glasgow derby, over in Germany, Marie-Louise Eta, who is in interim charge of Union Berlin, won her first game as boss when her side beat FC Mainz away from home.
Back in April, Union Berlin sacked Steffen Baumgart after a string of poor results, and they appointed Eta until the end of the season.
She became the first female to coach a side in Europe’s top-five leagues, which are England, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.
The 34-year-old’s first win came courtesy of goals from two players very familiar to Celtic supporters – Burke and Juranović.

Union Berlin were sitting in the bottom half of the table when they appointed Eta. They had only won twice in 2026, and five games of the Bundesliga season were remaining.
After two defeats and a draw, she has now picked up a 3-1 win, with Burke putting his side 2-1 ahead in the 88th minute when the game was heading towards a draw.
That’s when Juranović came off the bench to put the cherry on top of the cake in stoppage time and put their names in the history books.

How have Burke and Juranović fared post-Celtic?
Both players had relatively short stints in Glasgow, with Juranović most recently being at Celtic before leaving in 2023.
Alistair Johnston has since taken the reins and done an outstanding job. But Juranović secured a near £10 million transfer to Union Berlin, where he has been ever since.
While Juranović’s transfer was a big blow, at the end of the day, it was money the champions of Scotland simply couldn’t ignore.
As for Burke, the 29-year-old has had a rather interesting career, full of promise after moving to Parkhead on a loan deal in 2019.
Burke came through the ranks at Nottingham Forest as a powerful forward, with lots of potential and high expectations.
But the Scotland international hasn’t been able to hit the heights many expected, playing for six different clubs since his Celtic spell in 2019.
