Radek Vítek continues to feature for Manchester United in pre-season despite interest from the likes of Celtic.

Make no bones about it, Celtic want another goalkeeper; Martin O’Neill has stated that himself in pre-season as he searches for a challenger to Viljami Sinisalo’s number one spot.

Vitek has been one of several names that have popped up on Celtic’s transfer radar, and it seems likely that he will leave Old Trafford this summer.

The player himself has stated that he wants to be number one elsewhere – whether on loan or a permanent basis – but the champions of Scotland have competition because English clubs are also keen, as there is even a suggestion that around ‘£15 million’ is being put over his head.

Middlesbrough and Hull City in the hunt for ‘£15m-rated’ Radek Vitek

It has recently been reported that Championship side Middlesbrough and newly-promoted Premier League side Hull City are keen on Vitek.

That’s not the part that should worry Celtic; it’s the rumoured price tag on his head.

United Peoples TV have claimed that Vitek could be sold for ‘£15-20 million’; if that happens, then you can certainly rule out the Hoops pushing for his signature.

There is no way Celtic would pay that type of fee for any player, never mind a goalkeeper, even if he is from Manchester United.

But it seems as though everything is still in the air with Vitek’s future; Teesside Live have claimed that Boro have held ‘conversations’ about the shot-stopper, who starred on-loan at Bristol City last season.

Once again, it’s not thought or has been reported that Celtic’s interest in Vitek has gone as far as that.

Saying that, Teesside Live adds that nothing has progressed regarding Boro’s interest in Vitek, and there are ‘multiple clubs’ keen on the player.

Vitek featuring for Manchester United in pre-season

While all this talk is going on, Vitek has been part of Manchester United’s pre-season games under Michael Carrick.

After playing 45 minutes in a 1-0 win over Wrexham in Finland, Vitek then played 72 minutes during Man United’s 5-0 win over Rosenborg in Norway.

In that sense, the highly sought-after keeper is getting minutes and some much-needed rhythm under his belt, so if a move to Celtic does materialise, then he is more than ready to drop straight in.
