The record that suggests Celtic won’t wait until they face Rangers to win 55th Scottish Premiership title

Celtic could be crowned champions of Scotland again this weekend.

A point is needed for Brendan Rodgers‘ side to officially win the Scottish Premiership and will be given the chance to do so against Dundee United.

There has been frustration from Rodgers that they’ve not been able to wrap up the title quicker, but after the post-split fixture announcement handed an away trip to Rangers on 4 May, some Celtic fans wanted them to wait until they play at Ibrox until they were crowned champions.

With a packed-out away end at Tannadice, there will be no qualms if the Bhoys can do it this weekend and if history is anything to go by, they can expect to be in party mode on Saturday.

Frankly, it doesn’t really matter when you win the league as Celtic manager, you just need to win.

The sooner the better though and if the Hoops are to do it at Tannadice, it will be a milestone achievement.

April has been a happy month to win the Scottish Premiership and if they do, it will be the 30th time Celtic have done so.

This is also the most popular time for the Bhoys to win the league, with May coming in second, winning it 17 times in the final month of the season.

How many points can Celtic finish on?

There’s only five games of the season remaining for the Bhoys and although the league looks a certainty, there’s still plenty to play for.

A Treble-winning season is up for grabs and some players will have to use the rest of the games to determine if they belong at Celtic Park next season.

Five games means 15 points left and therefore there’s no chance of the Hoops reaching the infamous 100-point mark.

That means Celtic could finish on a total of 96. This is still 10 points off equalling the all-time highest record of 106 in the 2016/17 season.

It still doesn’t deter from how positive this season has been.
