The Celtic first-team got to sample some pretty special surroundings at training on Tuesday.

The Hoops are at the start of a week-long visit to Japan. The trip will see the team face top-flight sides Yokohama F. Marinos and Gamba Osaka before they return back to Scotland.

As we covered yesterday, some players seemed pretty captivated by Japan just hours after arriving in the country. Their awe is likely to have increased further today.

Celtic were given the opportunity to train on the hallowed surface at a stadium that has hosted a number of major sporting events during the 21st century.

As per Stadium Guide and Wikipedia, the International Stadium Yokohama has hosted the following in recent times:

Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo Nazário, Karim Benzema, Daizen Maeda. They’ve all played and scored major goals in the stadium.

It holds 72,327 seats making it one of the largest anywhere in Asia. We’re not sure if it’ll be totally packed for our clash against Kevin Muscat’s side tomorrow.

But, even if it’s not, it’s still likely to be a night to remember.

In other news, Celtic matches will be shown on the TNT Sports channel which has launched in the UK
