As Brendan Rodgers looks forward to another Scottish Cup final and more success at Celtic, his former club Leicester City have sufferecd contrasting fortunes.

At Celtic, Rodgers is looking to win his fifth trophy in two seasons after returning to the club in the summer of 2023.

The Celtic manager’s former club Leicester City, however, have something completely different to look forward to.

The Foxes’ relegation from the English Premier League was confirmed at the weekend and as Championship football awaits Rodgers’ old club, it seems a warning issued by Gary Lineker to Leicester about the Celtic boss has now come true.

Leicester’s Premier League relegation as Lineker’s warning about Celtic boss comes true

Back in January Celtic were enjoying some good success in the Champions League as Rodgers kept their bid to get out of the league phase alive.

And after Celtic beat Young Boys to secure their knock-out tie against Bayern Munich, Lineker told Leicester fans, “A brilliant result for Brendan Rodgers and a reminder to all those Leicester fans that wanted to get him out.

“We had a top-class manager then. We had a top-class manager then. Be careful what you wish for.”

And it seems now that Leicester are going from participating in the Champions League when Rodgers was the King Power boss to now playing in England’s second-tier has, in fact, came back to haunt them.
