‘They look’ – Troy Deeney nails Celtic’s performance after calling out Bayern Munich players’ fan celebrations

Celtic end the week out of the Champions League but embedded firmly in Bayern Munich’s minds.

The German club must have been rubbing their hands when they were drawn out alongside Celtic for the Champions League playoff draw.

With Man City the other option for the Bundesliga club, it is no slight on Celtic that Bayern would have preferred coming to Scotland rather than face Pep Guardiola’s star-studded side.

With the amount of talent at Vincent Kompany’s disposal, the Belgian must have been thanking his lucky stars in private whilst in public he was very respectful of the Scottish champions.

And now that the two-legged tie is over and Bayern progressed to the last 16 of the Champions League, what their players did at full-time proves just how much Celtic ran the former German champions closer than they would have liked the tie to have been.

Bayern Munich’s players spotted looking ’embarrassed’ after late Celtic goal

Troy Deeney was on commentary duty with talkSPORT as he shared how he spotted Bayern’s players looking ’embarrassed’ at fulltime in front of their home fans.

Deeney said on talkSPORT, “We’re just looking down at the Bayern Munich players. They look embarrassed.

“They’re standing in front of their fans, and they obviously do a little jump and a celebration with their fan base.

“They look embarrassed to even be there at this moment in time and that just puts into perspective how well this Celtic team have done.”

Celtic’s focus returns to domestic business starting with Hibs on Saturday

Celtic can now look at refocusing their attention on domestic business as Brendan Rodgers looks to win his third domestic treble of his career.

The Celtic manager is currently 13 points ahead of Rangers with just 12 games left to go. A win at Easter Road could increase that to 16 with Rangers not kicking off until 3pm later in the day.

The Scottish Cup also resumes next month with Celtic taking on Hibs in the quarter-final at Celtic Park. If Rodgers can successfully negotiate that then another Hampden date awaits the fans and the potential of a ninth domestic treble.
