Henrik Larsson is held in incredibly high regard by Celtic supporters.

The King of Kings scored 242 goals across an iconic seven-year spell at Celtic, establishing himself as arguably the club’s biggest legend of the 21st century.

For a great Celt, Larsson ticked pretty much every box. Goals against Rangers, European Golden Boots, goals against European giants and even goals in a European final, in which he deserved to be on the winning side.

He also picked up over 100 Sweden caps, holding the mantle as the country’s main man prior to the era of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

His contribution in the 2006 Champions League final for Barcelona is incredibly well-remembered – especially by one legendary figure, who was on the opposing side that night.

Larsson’s son Jordan made history on Thursday night, emulating his father with his first Champions League goal.

The 28-year-old played under his father at Helsinborgs at the beginning of his career, going on to play for Spartak Moscow, Schalke and Copenhagen, who he scored the goal for.

Thierry Henry was in the CBS Sports studio when they were looking at the goal, which was scored in a 2-2 draw between Copenhagen and Bayer Leverkusen.

The panel were discussing the incredible stat that the goal came 24 years to the day after his dad’s first Champions League strike, which came in a cruel defeat against Juventus under Martin O’Neill in 2001.

“Jordan Larsson scored his first ever Champions League goal, 24 years to the day after his father’s first Champions League goal for Celtic,” said host Kate Abdo.

Henry replied: “His dad was some player by the way.”

The Frenchman joined Barcelona in the same summer that saw Larsson depart the Nou Camp to sign for boyhood club Helsinborgs.

Will Jordan Larsson ever play for Celtic?

Jordan has been linked with Celtic on various occasions in the past. He was born during his father’s playing days in Rotterdam, a year before he moved to Celtic.

A left-footed right-winger, he can also play up front, and has hit impressive numbers in a few seasons of his career.

Time is running out for him at 28, but he was named in the most recent squad by Jon-Dahl Tomasson, along with Benjamin Nygren – he could definitely still contribute.

But few would envy the pressure of having to be in the footsteps of his father. The pressure would be huge.
