Celtic’s win over Ross County allowed Brendan Rodgers to rotate his squad after the team’s Champions League efforts against Club Brugge.
Being at home meant the risk of allowing players like Auston Trusty, Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate to take a break was minimised, especially with a packed Celtic Park crowd behind them.
As it was, Celtic blew Ross County away in a blistering 45 first-half minutes that left Don Cowie’s team with no answers at Parkhead.
Whilst Callum McGregor and Luke McCowan drew most of the plaudits, there were three Celtic fringe players who passed Ross County off the park and who all deserve to start against Aberdeen tomorrow night.
Paulo Bernardo and James Forrest were excellent for Celtic vs Ross County
Paulo Bernardo not only got on the scoresheet for Celtic but the Portuguese midfielder’s passing was crisp and clean.
With 71 touches of the ball, Bernardo made 46 passes in the whole 90 minutes he was on the park. 89% of those passes found a Celtic teammate as did three into Ross County’s final third as the 22-year-old created three chances on goal.
James Forrest was also laser-focused with his passing at Celtic Park. The legendary winger had 61 touches and made 47 passes of which, 96% found a green and white Hooped jersey.
Forrest also made four passes into Ross County’s final third which helped create one chance for Celtic.
Alex Valle’s outstanding performance for Celtic vs Ross County
Alex Valle is one of the most talked about players at Celtic amongst the fans right now. The young Barcelona full-back is one the Hoops support wants to see start more often for Rodgers.

Well, they got their wish and Valle never let the fans or the manager down. With 122 touches, the young Spanish defender made 95 passes with 82 (86%) reaching a Celtic teammate.
For a fullback that is a great return. Valle also made 16 passes into the Dingwall club’s final third as he helped batter Don Cowie’s side into a first-half submission.
The likelihood of all three players (Bernardo aside) starting against Aberdeen tomorrow night is unlikely but what this trio have done is prove to Rodgers that should he need them at Pittodrie, they will not let him down.
