It would be very difficult to criticise any Celtic player for their performance against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

Every single Celtic player put in a Herculean effort against the German giants and it almost paid off for the Parkhead club.

Celtic had Bayern Munich on the ropes for some periods of the game and whilst the Bundesliga club did have the majority of possession, Brendan Rodgers’ team limited them to very few chances.

But it seems that one of Celtic’s first-team players is not above criticism after a finger of blame was pointed at Kasper Schmeichel for his role in Bayern’s equaliser.

Troy Deeney calls out talkSPORT’s Adrian Durham’s Celtic criticism

Adrian Durham is known for his controversial opinions in football and it seems that he has just criticised Schmeichel for the sake of it.

Whilst Durham said he didn’t want to seem critical he still pointed the finger at Schmeichel who saved Celtic on numerous occasions in the Allianz Arena.

Speaking immediately after full-time, presenter Adrian Durham seemed to criticise Schmeichel’s role in Bayern’s equaliser as get claimed the Celtic goalkeeper should have pushed the save to his left-hand side.

Deeney said on talkSPORT, “Yeah I think that’s ultra-critical if I’m totally honest with you.

“Yeah, it is ultra critical because he’s going on his left-hand side and the ball gets to his right, so he’s transferring the weight, and then he’s trying to flick it away.

“It’s just one of those things. If Carter-Vickers gets there 0.01 seconds quicker and clears it, then we’re talking about what a great save and a spirited display.

“I think you’re being a little bit harsh about Kasper and this Celtic team, but I do think they will rue out those chances in that first half, I really do feel they’ll be thinking what if.”
