UEFA’s class Celtic shout-out after Luis Enrique makes history with PSG in the Champions League

Celtic enjoyed a successful Champions League campaign last season.

Beating the likes of Bundesliga club RB Leipzig as well as the Bhoys earning a draw against Atalanta, Celtic fans were treated to many brilliant memories in UEFA’s elite competition.

Celtic also gave Bayern Munich a run for their money after almost pulling off a historic win in Munich, but for a last-second equaliser which eventually knocked Brendan Rodgers’ Bhoys out of the Champions League 3-1 on aggregate.

However, despite that, Celtic have still been given a huge shoutout by the European governing body after Luis Enrique’s PSG hammered Inter Milan in this season’s final 5-0.

UEFA pay tribute to Celtic’s Lisbon Lions treble-winners

After PSG won the Champions League, the French Ligue 1 club recorded their first-ever treble. The treble, according to UEFA, consists of a league title win, the primary cup competition and a Champions League win.

And as Enrique accomplished that feat this season, UEFA tweeted every club in Europe that has managed to create this incredible achievement.

The Lisbon Lions achieved this in 1967. But not only did they complete the treble, Jock Stein’s Celtic legends also won every competition they appeared in that season.

Celtic won the League Cup and the Glasgow Cup to add to the treble in a season that is still revered by fans of every generation.

Celtic’s route to historic European Cup win vs Inter Milan

Celtic beat Inter Milan in the European Cup final in 1967. The Bhoys didn’t just defeat the Italian giants, they battered the Serie A giants for the whole game.
