Chris Sutton is one of the biggest defenders of Celtic and Scottish football in the media and always steps up whenever he hears any harsh criticism of his former club or the SPFL.
The Celtic hero is idolised by the Hoops support because he cares so passionately about the club but also because he can be objective and criticise Celtic whenever it is required.
Sutton has found himself defending Celtic even more ever since Ange Postecoglou left to join Spurs as the former Hoops gaffer comes under some serious criticism this season for the Premier League side’s form.
Having suffered another defeat to Newcastle at the weekend, Postecoglou has come under some fresh criticism and Sutton has fired back at an English media outlet using Celtic’s name to knock the Australian.
Chris Sutton defends Celtic as Ange Postecoglou comes under pressure at Spurs
Sutton told It’s All Kicking Off [30m 40s], “I think he’s feeling the heat, isn’t he? I mean, should he have media training? I think that he’s one of the best talkers out there.
“He’s just going through a bad time and he’s clearly rattled. I saw Craig Hope’s piece about Big Ange this morning in the Mail. I mean, that was slightly OTT.
“Delusional he called him.
“And then he used the old poke at Celtic. ‘You can do it at Celtic‘. I don’t know whether Craig’s looked really deeply into Ange’s whole coaching career.
“I thought a lot of that was unfair, but there you go.”
Ange Postecoglou’s winning record at Celtic and beyond proves Spurs must show faith
Hoops fans must be pretty fed up with the media down south deriding Ange Postecoglou’s achievements at Celtic at the Parkhead club as a weapon to downplay his success as a manager.
The snobbery towards the quality of Scottish football is weird considering any time Celtic comes up against English opposition in Europe, more often than not, a bloody nose gets dealt to them.
However, Postecoglou doesn’t only have a great winning track record at Celtic, the Spurs boss has enjoyed success at every team and at every level he has managed:
