Union Berlin send message to Celtic after Josip Juranovic deal is confirmed
Union Berlin have acknowledged Josip Juranovic’s hero status at Celtic, sending a message to the Bhoys on social media after his transfer to the Bundesliga side was confirmed.
Juranovic has joined Union for a reported £7.5m fee, which could rise to £10m with add-ons.
The Croatian was a popular member of the squad both amongst his peers and supporters, something Union say can be repeated in Germany.
Sending a message to the official Celtic Twitter account, the German side said: “We know how much you have treasured Josip, and how much he loved playing for Celtic.
“So please know that we’ll look after him, he’ll be a hero here, and even though there’s not as many of us here, we’ll try to shout his name as loud as you ever could. Cheers and love. Eisern!”
Union currently sit third in Bundesliga, having achieved a fifth-placed finish last season. Also competing in the UEFA Europa League knockout stages, there’s plenty to look forward to for Juranovic.
At 28, this was a major career decision and clearly he fancies competing in one of the bigger European leagues – as much as everyone enjoyed his appearances for the Bhoys.
Ange Postecoglou wished him well yesterday, while David Turnbull revealed that the right-back had a ‘nice moment’ with his teammates prior to the Greenock Morton match.
One of Kyogo Furuhashi’s celebrations involved a tribute to the Croatian international.
If he smashes it in Germany, it will be more evidence that Celtic can be a fine place to enhance and improve a player before heading to tougher leagues.
