Former Celtic hero, Peter Grant, has shared how was left seriously impressed with Kyogo Furuhashi after the Japanese striker scored for the second week in a row against St Johnstone on Saturday.
Grant was blown away by the 29-year-old and praised him for his bravery in attacking the ball for his goal against Craig Levein’s side as the goalkeeper was bearing down on him amid a challenge from the St Johnstone defender.
Grant said [The Go Radio Football Show], “You can see him getting frustrated at times. But I don’t think he’s got that mentality to go and grab somebody and say just put the ball in the net.
“And the amount of goals scored in the last couple of weeks against Dundee and again at the weekend and opportunities they have created, are coming from that early cross.
“It’s been phenomenal. And that is the thing that I believe you’re crying out for.
“And it was a great ball for his goal. And he was brave. And I hear people talk about him not being good in the air, I think he’s good in the air.
“He was very aggressive because with a keeper coming and outjumping the centre half, and it was a great ball from Kuhn.
“And he’d done the exact same last week as well so fair play to him.”
Celtic fans will admit that Kyogo has not been anywhere near his brilliant best this season. With 15 goals to his name, the Japan international has been left out of Hajime Moriyasu’s team for this international break due to his lack of form for the Parkhead club.
But recently, we have seen Kyogo find his goalscoring touch. And it comes just at the right time for Brendan Rodgers.

With the Rangers game at Ibrox looming, the Celtic manager will want his striker full of confidence for the vital Scottish Premiership match.
Kyogo has netted seven times in the last eleven games against Rangers and over the last four games against the Ibrox club, he has scored five times. [Transfermarkt]
If Celtic want to secure a result against the title challengers, their chances have been boosted with Kyogo’s recent return to goalscoring form.
